On-Campus Technology

Manhattan Christian College provides students with a wireless campus. Students can work on assignments and access the Internet and e-mail from the residence halls, Campus Center, and Library. Because this technology is available, MCC strongly recommends students have a wireless enabled laptop when coming to school. Minimally, a desktop computer is essential for all college students. The wireless technology is also available for students with desktops, but to experience all the features of a wireless campus, a laptop is essential! MCC is currently a PC campus. Many students on campus do have Apple computers (MACs), but on-campus tech support may be limited.

MCC also recommends the following minimum software packages for students:

  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional or Vista Home Premium
  • Microsoft Office (Student & Teachers edition)
  • An Internet Security Suite (Norton or McAfee)
  • Antivirus protection is required to participate on the wireless network. Subscription expiration dates for definition updates must extend beyond the current semester (no trial software allowed).

MCC tech support recommends the following Linksys products for students who need to purchase a wireless adapter for their laptop or desktop:

College students may purchase software and hardware at educational prices at many online vendors as well as several local vendors including Hastings and Varney's Bookstores.
