The School Your Phone service will allow students to receive immediate emergency messages from the college by e-mail AND as a text message.
School Your Phone will also allow students to subscribe to MCC sport updates and College Planning Council (CPC) activity announcements. Students may also add any email address to a 'whitelist' to receive text messages of e-mails received from these approved accounts. There will never be any spam because the only e-mail addresses that a student adds to their list whitelist will be sent as a text message.
It is easy to sign up and get started, just visit mccks.teleflip.com and School Your Phone today. You will need to provide the pop settings for the registered email account when asked. MCC's e-mail acount pop setting is: pop.gmail.com.
You are required to add an address to the email forwarding portion of the system before completing registration. If this causes any frustration, there are several ways this can be managed by the user, including
- You can turn that e-mail address to OFF in the next step
- You can turn that e-mail address off when you log back in to the system to manage their account
- You can limit the number of texts that get sent per e-mail to 1-10 (default is 3)
- You can schedule mail to come only during certain times of the weekday or weekend
- You can turn mail ON/OFF entirely
