Responsibilities:  This job description is intended to be a guideline rather that a comprehensive description of the minister’s daily activities.  It is intended to assign basic areas of responsibility.

General:  The Associate Minister will be a spiritual leader and a resource person in the ongoing ministry of the Worthington Christian Church.  His primary focus will be upon young families and the youth of the church.  He will minister to all members of this Church and to non-members, according to their needs, so that Christ’s Kingdom may grow.  He will assist in the teaching ministry of this congregation so that together we may be strengthened in our faith and love for Jesus Christ.

Family Life:  The Associate Minister will oversee, coordinate, and expand all ministries related to the family.  This includes Children’s ministries, marriage related ministries, parenting and family events, activities, and programs.  This position will shepherd the continuity of Christian education from birth through adults.

Youth Groups:  The Associate Minister will be responsible for the youth programs.  This includes recruiting and training sponsors for each age group and organizing curriculum for the groups as well as following through with ministry safe training. The curriculum should be solid Bible-based and fit with the overall curriculum of the church.  The Associate Minister will be available to teach youth groups as needed.

Sunday School:  The Associate Minister will be available to teach Sunday school.

Visitation:  As much as possible, the Associate Minister will make personal contact with young families and youth.  He will call on members of the congregation in hospitals, nursing homes, homes, etc., when needed.

Other Minister duties:  The Associate will be on call in the absence of the Senior Minister.  This may include performing some of the congregation’s weddings and funerals.  He must take on other pastoral responsibilities as needed.
