Why are the courses only 8 weeks long?
We have developed each 3 credit-hour course into an 8-week format. This allows busy people to complete courses efficiently. This also allows students to limit themselves to two courses in an 8-week term and remain qualified for full financial aid (12 credit hours per semester).
Do I still have to buy books?
Yes. Just like an on-campus course, textbooks are required for each online course. We will provide you with the book list before the course begins, so you can purchase the books at your favorite bookseller. Be very careful ordering used textbooks online as there may be long delays in delivery.
MCC also requires the purchase of the Logos Bible Software 3: Scholar's Library from Logos Bible Software for all students in the Distance degree programs. You may choose from the basic, silver, gold, or platinum editions with a 50% MCC student discount (enrollment verified). You must have the software no later than the second semester. Payment plans available from Logos.
Will I get personal attention?
Yes. At Manhattan Christian College, your goals are important to us. Course sizes are limited to 15 students so that your professors can give you the feedback and encouragement you need to succeed. You can contact your professor via email or phone. The professor also takes part in the weekly discussion board.

You may also have Credit for Prior Learning (CPL) that you have gained through seminars or job-related training such as technical, military, or missionary training. You can transfer up to 30 hours of alternative credit. There is a fee for CPL evaluation.

How often do I have to be online for class?
The beauty of online courses is that you get to choose! The days and times that you take online college courses are entirely up to you as long as you meet participation requirements. Typically, you are not required to be online at the same time with the whole class, unless a course 'chat' session is scheduled by the instructor. You can log on at any time of the day or night. This allows you to fit school into your busy schedule!
What happens if I have a technical problem?
Our online course system is very easy to use. Most students never experience a problem. If you have any questions or experience any difficulties we offer technical support via the Internet and over the phone (local: 785-532-0860, or toll free: 866-282-8212). It is the student's responsibility to provide access to the Internet (through your Internet Service Provider), and to maintain your personal computer - the technical staff is always available to answer questions.
Can I try out the MCC Online course system as a guest?
Guests are free to take a look at a demonstration course available in MCC Online's course management system. You may log in as 'guest' (password: 'guest') at MCC Online. |
