MCC Men Pick Up Two More Road Wins

The MCC men's basketball team went on the road this weekend and picked up two victories.  Friday night MCC defeated Central Christian College of the Bible (Moberly, MO) 80-74.  This game was a struggle throughout for the Crusaders.  MCC opened up a 23-13 lead, but CCCB would not go away and at the half MCC led 39-38.  CCCB opened the second half by scoring the first five points to go up 43-39, but MCC responded with an 8-0 run to take back a lead they would never relinquish.  The margin would stay close throughout the game, but MCC was able to withstand every charge by the Saints.  Will Chisam led MCC with 18 points, Lonnie Penner had 17 points and Alex Hammack added 16 points, 7 assists and 8 steals.

Saturday MCC traveled to St. Louis Christian College to take on the Soldiers.  MCC got off to a solid start and held a 14-10 lead, but St. Louis went on a 16-3 run, to go up on the Crusaders 26-17, midway through the first half.  MCC did a better job taking care of the ball and closed the half on a 21-7 run to take a 38-33 halftime lead.  In the second half MCC continued to play as they started the half on a 24-8 run to take a 62-41 lead.  MCC coasted from there to the 92-60 victory.  Sage Ruis led MCC with 18 points and Chisam added 13 points.

MCC is now 13-7 on the season, and they are in first place in the Conference with a perfect 6-0 mark. The Crusaders will be back in action on Tuesday as they go on the road to take on Union College.
