The Manhattan Christian College men's basketball team finished off their regular season over the weekend picking up two regional wins.
On Friday night MCC got off to a strong start against Central Christian College of the Bible (Moberly, MO) by scoring the games first nine points. From there Central was able to stem the tide and closed the gap to 14-10. MCC would regroup and go in at the half leading 40-28. In the second half MCC was able to stretch out the lead and finish off the 74-52 victory. Alex Hammack and Sage Ruis led the way for the Crusaders with 18 points each, while Josh Camacho chipped in with 11 points.
Saturday MCC defeated Baptist Bible College 96-82. This was a very rugged game as their were 48 fouls called. MCC held a 47-38 halftime advantage, and in the second half the Crusaders would stretch the lead out to 85-59, before a late barrage of three-pointers by BBC would close the final margin. Ruis again led MCC with 22 points while Will Chisam added 19 points and 14 rebounds.
With these wins MCC improved to 20-8 on the year and 5-1 in the NCCAA Central Region. The Crusaders are tied with Grace University and a coin flip will be held to determine the top seed in the Regional Tournament in Omaha February 28 & March 1. MCC will next be in action this weekend in Moberly, Missouri as they will enter the Midwest Christian College Conference Tournament as the top seed and they will open play on Friday.
