MCC Men Fall in Regional Tournament

The Manhattan Christian College men's basketball team suffered a tough loss in the Regional Tournament falling to Central Christian College of the Bible, 48-44.  CCCB took the air out of the ball and held the ball for at least 25 seconds on each possession in hopes of making it an ugly game and their strategy proved successful.  MCC trailed 18-13 in the first half before closing the half on a 13-4 run to go in with a 26-22 lead.  In the second half CCCB continued their play and offensively they hit several big shots with under five seconds left on the shot clock, while the Crusaders struggled shooting the ball.  MCC trailed 41-33 with under six minutes to go in the game, but a 9-2 run saw MCC tie it up with about 1:30 to play.  However down the stretch MCC could not come up with any plays to get on top, missing several close in shots and CCCB hit enough free throws to pull out the victory.  Sage Ruis led MCC with 16 points.  The Crusaders finished the season 22-9.  This marked the last game in uniform for five seniors:  Josh Camacho, Matt Doerksen, Alex Hammack, Jack Mitchell and Lonnie Penner.  During their careers they were very successful, winning at least a share of four straight regular season Midwest Christian College Conference championships and winning the MCCC tournament this year.  These young men will be missed by the program next year.
