Scholarship Policies

I. Manhattan Christian College scholarship policy: “Manhattan Christian College Scholarships may be used toward tuition and residential housing/dining plans in residence halls at MCC. Scholarships cannot be cashed, transferred to another college, transferred to another student’s account, or used for housing expenses. A Manhattan Christian College Scholarship cannot be used toward any Kansas State University tuition/fees charged at MCC. Scholarships will be divided equally between fall and spring semesters. Credit may not be carried over to another semester.”

II. To receive an MCC scholarship, a student must file a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid).  Contact Financial Aid Office for exceptions.

III. All MCC Scholarships require the student be seeking an MCC degree, making satisfactory progress toward an MCC degree, and be enrolled full time. Dual-degree students must enroll full time at MCC during their first and second semesters, enroll for a minimum of 9 hours per semester during their third and fourth semesters, enroll for a minimum of 6 hours per semester at MCC during their fifth and sixth semesters, and enroll for a minimum of 3 hours per semester at MCC during their seventh and eighth semester. Dual degree hours must be through an institution of higher learning with which MCC has a consortium agreement.

IV. Hours counting toward full time enrollment are those hours taken in the traditional 16 week format at the regular tuition rate. Hours taken through programs charged at a rate other than the regular tuition rate are not eligible to be counted toward full time hours (i.e. distance learning, wintersession).

V. Students receiving the President’s, Trustees’, or Crusader scholarship may move between scholarships annually depending upon which scholarship requirements have been met. In the event a recipient no longer meets the GPA requirements of any of these scholarships, loses all scholarships, and then regains a cumulative GPA required by one of these scholarships, the student may recover the scholarship for which (s)he is entitled. Students entering MCC without an academic scholarship become eligible for academic scholarships based upon their cumulative GPA after completion of each spring semester. Review of cumulative GPA’s is done after grades are submitted for the spring semester of each year. Scholarship levels are adjusted for the next academic year. Students losing these scholarships based on criteria other than GPA are no longer eligible for any renewable scholarship at MCC.

VI. Recipients losing the National Merit or Leadership scholarship may move into the renewable scholarship program described in V. above. Once lost, the National Merit or Leadership scholarship may not be recovered.

VII. Students returning to Manhattan Christian College after transferring to another school, having withdrawn, or having been dismissed are no longer eligible to receive a Manhattan Christian College renewable scholarship.

VIII. Exceptions to MCC’s academic scholarship policies for new students do not exist. However, on occasion, admissions counselors may offer a one year, non-renewable grant (Dorean Scholarship) in addition to the renewable academic scholarship for which the student is qualified.

IX. Exceptions to the requirements for renewable academic scholarships for returning students shall be made on a case by case basis by the scholarship committee upon written appeal by the student. Decisions of the scholarship committee are final.
