THE COUNTDOWN - #6 (tie)

#6 (Tie) – Coach Olson named NCCAA II Women’s Coach of the Year

Larry Olson directed the women’s basketball team to one of the best seasons in school history and in the process he was recognized by the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) as the Division II Women’s Basketball Coach of the Year.

This was the sixth season for Olson at the helm and he led them to an undefeated conference record on the way to both the Regular Season and Conference Tournament Championship.  He also guided them to the Regional Championship and the #2 seed at the NCCAA National Tournament where they advanced to the National Championship Game, falling just short against Maranatha Baptist Bible College.  MCC finished the year 27-5 overall and they were 18-2 against NCCAA II competition.

Coach Olson has done a great job of building on the strong tradition of the program and pushing it to new heights.  He likes to build his program on the ABC’s – Academics, Basketball and Christian Character, which has led to the success both on and off the court.  Congratulations Coach on your well deserved award and we look forward to what you will do going forward.
