Jolliffe Hall Project
GROUNDBREAKING CEREMONY SIGNALS NEW
EDUCATIONAL GATEWAY AT MCC
Jolliffe Hall, the original academic and administration building of Manhattan Christian College located at the corner of 14th and Anderson Avenue, will undergo an 18-month, interior remodeling project. The official ceremony to celebrate the beginning of these upgrades will take place at 3:30 p.m., Friday, May 9. Jolliffe Hall, a 79-year old native limestone building, will be completely gutted and then rebuilt from the inside out.
On the northeast corner of the MCC campus, Jolliffe Hall will serve as a new educational gateway. The rehabilitated building will include a 300-seat multi-level chapel, two classrooms, a permanent home for the college library and college archives and a 3-story glass atrium with elevator. “This is a transforming moment in MCC history,” said MCC President Kevin Ingram. “Jolliffe Hall speaks of our history and is the gateway to our future. Its transformation will provide state-of-the-art educational tools that will allow us to train the very best Christian leaders who will serve around the world for Christ and impact future generations.”
When Jolliffe Hall reopens in the fall of 2009 it will feature the very latest in technology, including:
- Wireless technology throughout.
- A multi-purpose event center which will provide a setting for campus, alumni and community events and create an environment for lifelong learning.
- Small group study rooms that can support team-based learning.
- Interactive space featuring a student lounge and study areas.
The Ebert Mayo Design Group of Manhattan is overseeing the 3.5 million dollar project. Murry and Sons Construction Company, Inc. of Topeka is the general contractor who will transform the 17,346 gross square feet of the current structure into a contemporary multi-purpose educational facility.
