On-Campus Technology

Manhattan Christian College provides students with a wireless campus. Students can work on assignments and access the Internet and e-mail from the residence halls, Campus Center, and Library. Because this technology is available, MCC recommends students have a wireless enabled laptop when coming to school. The wireless technology is also available for students with desktops, but to gain the full experience all the features of a wireless campus, a laptop is essential!

MCC has partnered with Lenovo and we are now a part of their ThinkPad® University program. MCC and Lenovo have teamed up to provide students, family, and friends of MCC access to Lenovo's excellent product line at educational pricing. There are several laptops and desktop options available online. These computers can be personalized and upgraded to meet your individual computing needs and budget. All listed educationally priced hardware features Windows XP Pro, Vital Source software (access to all printed works published prior to 1931), LotusSuite software, and a 3-year warrantee.

You can explore the various laptop and desktop options by visiting MCC's personal pages at Lenovo. You will need to create a user profile by using MCC's account number 1408871.

Again, this purchasing program is open to all prospective students, current students, family, and friends of the college to benefit from your relationship with MCC as a Lenovo ThinkPad® University.

MCC also recommends the following software packages for students:

  • Microsoft Windows XP Professional
  • Microsoft Office (Student & Teachers edition)
  • An Internet Security Suite (Norton or McAfee)
  • Antivirus protection is required to participate on the wireless network. Subscription expiration dates for definition updates must extend beyond the current semester (no trial software allowed).

College students may purchase software at educational prices at many local vendors including Hastings and Varney's Bookstores, and at many online vendors.
